Accessing the Inaccessible: Capturing and Re-Purposing Metadata Prior to Digitization to Ensure Adequate Description and Access

Description: Presented at the 2018 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries. This presentation provides a detailed look at how University of North Texas Libraries' Special Collections embarked upon a large-scale digitization project involving a portion of the highly requested A/V materials from the NBC-5/KXAS Television News collection, using a third-party vendor. This project included the use of snapshots to help repurpose metadata, then linked data tools in Excel and WikiMedia to create access to tape content titles.

Habitat Requirements of the Golden Orb (Quadrula aurea): Final Report

Description: Final report of a project to determine habitat parameters influencing distributions of Golden Orb (Q.aurea) mussels in the Guadalupe-San Antonio river basin: "The objectives of this study can be summarized by the following task: 1) Identify four samples with sufficient populations of Q.aurea to evaluate habitat parameters. 2) Evaluate the distribution of Q.aurea at selected sample sites in relation to habitat parameters and monitor flow conditions at these locations. 3) Calculate the shear stress ratio (RSS) for multiple flow conditions and the relationship with mussel density at selected sites. 4) Compile and summarize life history information for Q.aurea and related species" (p. 8).
