Voices of the Eastern Shore
The Voices of the Eastern Shore collection features archival materials such as letters, accounting ledgers and legal documents from the Somerset County Historical Society and the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia that focus on life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia from 1796 to 1837.
The materials support the Voices of the Eastern Shore digital edition, and center on Elizabeth Upshur Teackle and her husband, Littleton Dennis Teackle, a merchant of Princess Anne, Maryland, and their extended network of family, business associates, and friends.
Visit the Voices of the Eastern Shore website. The project supports scholarship and learning by providing access to documents that are carefully transcribed, subject tagged, and annotated to enable learners and researchers to make connections to history.
