William J. Bryan Collection
The personal correspondence of rancher and legislator William J. Bryan dates from 1881 to 1948 and features both letters to Bryan and copies of some of his responses to those letters. Included is one handwritten note from Theodore Roosevelt in 1898 on the letterhead of the Texas Democratic Rough Riders, a political organization started in West Texas to promote Democratic candidates to the legislature. Some letters and clippings relate to Bryan's activities in the legislature. Others are personal letters from friends.
