Abilene Library Consortium
About the Consortium
The Abilene Library Consortium (ALC) is a regional nonprofit organization in Abilene that provides support and resources to libraries, museums, and information organizations.
The ALC also administers the West Texas Digital Archives (WTDA), a web-based portal into the digitized special collections of the ALC libraries. First proposed in 2006 and now viewable on the Portal to Texas History, the WTDA includes thousands of photos, print materials, audio and visual content, maps, newspapers, and much more. The primary goals of the WTDA are to preserve collections from the deterioration of age and to improve worldwide access to the content of those collections.
Partnerships
To deliver services and fulfill its mission, the ALC proudly partners with The Abilene Christian University Library, The Abilene Public Library, The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene, The Grace Museum in Abilene, The Hardin-Simmons University Library, The Howard Payne University Library in Brownwood, The McMurry University Library, The Old Jail Art Center in Albany, and The 12th Armored Division Memorial Museum in Abilene.
