Description: Copy of transcript for a letter from Byrd Lockhart to Stephen F. Austin, in which Lockhart informs Austin that he has completed surveys for two leagues of land within the Austin colony and offers to continue surveying in the Western section of the colony. Lockhart requests instruction regarding the settlement of the prairie country and asks for news regarding the arrival of his petition.

[Transcript of Letter from Chamberlain Jones to Stephen F. Austin, October 10, 1830]

Description: Copy of transcript for a letter from Chamberlain Jones to Stephen F. Austin, in which Chamberlain informs Austin that he has purchased part of John Cummings' interest in the silver mine on the Trinity River. Jones requests further information regarding plans to put bring the mine into production, as well as, the current value of the mineral. Jones also suggests to Austin that would be to the benefit of the enterprise to arrange a meeting of the shareholders in the coming year.

[Transcript of Letter from D. W. Smith to Stephen F. Austin, March 16, 1830]

Description: Copy of transcript for a letter from D. W. Smith to Stephen F. Austin, in which Smith informs Austin that a former colleague of his, whom he dispatched to Saltillo in order to sell several hundred pounds of calico, has decided to keep the money instead of returning the proceeds to Matamoras. Smith appeals to Austin for assistance in notifying the local authorities in the area and having him arrested if he is identified. Smith includes a description of the fugitive.

[Transcript of Letter from Hugh McGuffin to Stephen F. Austin, April 25, 1830]

Description: Copy of transcript for a letter from Hugh McGuffin to Stephen F. Austin, in which McGuffin expresses his gratitude to Austin for granting his son a quarter of a league of land in the colony. McGuffin also appeals to Austin to protect his son's claim while he is visiting his father's home - flooding has delayed his return to Texas. Finally, McGuffin informs Austin of his plans to send his second eldest son to the colony as well, and asks Austin to look over both of them.
