Dennis M. O'Connor Public Library
About the Library
The Library offers early literacy reading programs, summer reading programs for youth, computer classes for adults, public access computers, Book Chat Club, and a diverse collection of reading materials for all ages.
The Library also performs research for patrons doing genealogy work through the Refugio County Press newspapers. Due to the generous funding support of the Tocker Foundation, digitization of these newspapers will make this service more readily available for the public. The history of Refugio County will be preserved for future generations.
History
In addition to the fully equipped building, the O'Connors also gifted a foundation book-stock of 10,000 volumes. Some 2,000 volumes belonging to the Woman's Club Library were also donated to the new Library. The Library was later renamed the Dennis M. O'Connor Public Library on May 27, 1997, to memorialize the late Mr. Dennis O'Connor.
