[Benedict Krag Standing By Grain Elevator Controls at the Danevang Farmers Co-op]

Description: Black and white photograph of a man, Benedict Krag, standing by a wall of electrical boxes that control the grain elevator at the Danevang Farmers Co-op. According to accompanying information, Benedict was the manager of the grain elevator at the time. He is dressed in a white short-sleeve button-up shirt, pants, and work boots. His right hand is holding a metal pipe that runs from the control boxes.

[Jens H. Berndt Farmstead]

Description: Photograph of Jens H. Berndt and his farmstead half a mile west of Danevang, Texas, which was later sold to P. C. Petersen in 1921. This information is also written on the back of the item in black ink. Presumably, Jens is the man in the foreground on the small plow that is being pushed by two horses. Behind him on the left, there is a barn with a tall gable roof and a windmill. The main home is on the far right. It is a two-story house with intersecting gable roofs and several double-hung windows, as well as two roof overhangs covering small patios. The photograph has been placed on a stiff mat which is chipping on the sides.

Fredericksen Family

Description: Black and white professional portrait of the Fredericksen family. The mother and father, Herman Fredericksen and Kingerborg Jensen Fredericksen, are sitting in elegant chairs opposite each other. The mother is wearing a dark dress with a high neck and a decorative collar; the father is wearing a three piece suit and has a mustache. Their four children are arranged between them, but one daughter is sitting in the same seat as her mother. They are all wearing dark clothing. The sons are wearing dark shirts with wide tie collars. The daughters are both wearing dresses with collars and buttons down the front. The youngest daughter is holding an open book in her lap. At the bottom right of the image, an embossed stamp reads, "Atelier Fru Jepsen & Søng, Svendborg." A handwritten note on the back lists their names and the location of the portrait session: "Svendborg, Danmark."

Description: Photograph of five girls at a beauty pageant in El Campo, Texas, headed by the Farm Bureau of Wharton County. They are standing on a wooden floor beneath a hanging set of streamers. They wear long dresses of varying colors, prints, and tailoring. From left to right, they have been identified as: unknown, Mary Dorotik (possibly Dornak), Elaine Hansen, LaVanne Ladewig, and Lillie Jensen. Hand-written text on the back of the photograph lists their names. Additionally, a small newspaper article was cut and taped to the back. It reads: "Danevang Girl Queen EL CAMPO, July 22 - (Sp) - Elaine Hansen, 16, of Danevang, was chosen Farm Queen of Wharton County here Friday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Hansen and will represent the Wharton County Farm Bureau in the district contest at Wharton in September. Lillie Jensen of Danevang was second and Mary Dorotik of ___ was third."

Description: This short pamphlet contains the laws and bylaws of the German-American Mutual Fire Insurance Association for Travis and Neighboring Counties. The document describes the association's structure and rules for conducting business including: its purpose, titles and duties of officers, election of officers, intake of new members, types of insurance offered, procedures for investigating claims, and making changes to the laws and bylaws. The sitting president and secretary are named on the second to last page, and the last page contains a table of contents.

Isaacson Gin Company

Description: Photograph of the Isaacson Gin Company, a cotton gin in El Campo, Texas, taken from a high angle and from a distance, capturing the entire structure and the surrounding homes that surround it. Several horse-drawn wagons are moving in a procession in an arc formation from the south-facing wall of the gin to the north-facing one. Groups of men can be seen directing them. Others are seen on the ground and on platforms near the cotton bales. The gin itself is a large two-story structure with gable roofs and a large pole extending from the direction of the smaller roofs. All the buildings in the background within the vicinity of the gin seem to be homes. They are built along the street that runs parallel to the gin's east-facing wall. The photograph has been pasted on a stiff mat with a decorative linear embossing that runs the perimeter of the image.

Description: Black and white photograph of a building known as the Isaacson Gin Company, where cotton is processed. The building is made of wood and has several different sections to it. The yard just outside the company is teeming with horse-drawn or animal-drawn wagons. Each wagon is filled with cotton; some of them are covered with a tarp. In the distance, several houses are visible, as are dirt roads that lead to and from the company yard.
