Elgin Public Library
The Elgin Public Library’s beginnings date back as early as 1897, when a ladies literary union created the New Century Club and began planning for a library. The Friends of the Elgin Library, a nonprofit organization, was later formed in 1985 and established the Elgin library in 1986. Today, the Elgin Public Library strives to serve the community through inclusive and accessible services, resources, programs, and information to meet the personal, academic, and recreational needs of the community.
