[El Paso: The Story of a City]

Description: Promotional publication of the El Paso (Texas) Chamber of Commerce, extolling the virtues of the city and region, especially its agricultural, business, manufacturing, and recreational attractions. It contains many reproductions of photographs of houses, businesses, scenery, and industry. It includes statistics about agricultural production and lists of mines served by the smelters and refineries.

[Insurrecto Sharp Shooter]

Description: Photograph of an Insurrecto Sharp Shooter on a mountain. The second rebel’s sombrero is just barely visible beyond the rocks and over the left shoulder of the first rebel. The rebels were certainly not alone on this mountain and were either confronting Federales or Constitutional Soldiers. The rifle that was just fired by the first rebel is a Mauser style bolt action rifle.

Description: Photograph of Federal soldiers loading equipment and attaching harnesses onto horses for travel. The Federals photographed appear to be an artillery unit. There are a few cannons and other machinery visible in the photograph. A few young boys can be seen looking on.

[Musicians and Revolutionaries]

Description: Photograph of revolutionary soldiers, a pair of musicians, and a young boy outside of a building. The soldiers reveal their weapons to the camera. The rebel at the end is holding two weapons, a rifle and a handgun. One musician is playing the violin and the other is strumming a guitar.

[Rebel Cannon]

Description: Photograph of rebels crouching behind a cannon during battle. Information on the back of the photo states that the cannon photographed was the only rebel cannon used in the May 1911 Battle of Juarez.

[Insurrectos Posing for a Photo]

Description: Photograph of a group of insurrectos posing around a prism of rifles. All the insurrectos, except for two, stand behind the stack of rifles. The other two men kneel on one knee besides the rifles. One wonders if the insurrectos chose to have their photo taken as such or if some direction was given by the photographer.

[Peace Commission]

Description: Photograph of a large group of people at an undisclosed location in the desert. Information on the back of the photo states that this photograph is of a peace commission and to note the American flags displayed on two of the automobiles present in the photograph. A few horses are present in the photo as well. One lone man stares at the camera. He resembles one of the newspapermen photographed in other photos within the collection.

[Revolutionaries in Chihuahua City]

Description: Photograph of armed revolutionaries walking by the post office building in Mexico's Chihuahua City. The people riding past the rebels in horse-drawn carriages peer over at the group. Individuals inside the post office can be seen looking down at the scene from the windows. Young boys run alongside the carriages to keep up with the revolutionaries.

[Large Plume of Smoke]

Description: Photo of a very large plume of smoke extended high into the sky. On the bottom left hand corner, the smoke rises from the rooftop of a brick building in Juarez, Mexico. Although the external facade of the building is intact, it appears that the entire interior of the building is engulfed in flames. A few people observe the fire.

[Red Cross Railroad Shack]

Description: Photograph of a group of revolutionaries resting in front of the railroad shack used by the Red Cross to treat those injured in the Mexican Revolution. Weapons, personal belongings, and supplies are seen on the ground and a dog is sniffing at the ground.
