Description: Postcard from L. H. Woods to George Pendexter wishing for more cards to be sent showing "auto fire apparatus." The photograph on the reverse side of the card shows a large cloud of smoke coming off of a large building that has been burned. The building on the left has had its roof destroyed and some portions of its wall collapsed; the building in the foreground has had its walls damaged and roof destroyed as well.

Woods notes on the back that these are "Engines three and four working on hose tower," the photo shows the two engines shooting water up into the sky as they fight the fire. There are plenty of spectators and firemen alike standing on the ground watching.

Description: Postcard with a photograph of five firefighters posing on an auto-hose fire truck in Hollywood, California; one man is seated in the driver's seat and the other four are standing on the running boards. Additionally, a dog is seated in a basket at the upper-right of the truck. According to the back of the photo this truck is a part of the greater Los Angeles Fire Department and it is equipped with a fire hose, ladders, and a large spotlight mounted in front of the driver's seat.

Description: Postcard with a photograph of one of the fire trucks belonging to the Long Beach Fire Department in Long Beach, California; the inscription on the engine reads: "Long Beach F. D." This truck carries ladders and a water hose as well as an alarm bell attached near the driver's seat; also there are five firemen standing around the truck, two are in the driver's seat while the other thee are standing on the ground in front.

Woods notes the fire on the left is at "8th and Hope St." with Engine 10 working on it, and the fire on the right is at "16th and Hill St." The photo on the left shows a horse-drawn fire wagon with a steamer engine on the back and a number of firemen working with it, the photo on the right is a view looking over a backyard fence to a house with smoke billowing out from the walls.

Description: Postcard of a L.A. Fire Department Badge, with a head shot photograph of a fire fighter in its center. On the back of the postcard, the sender has left a handwritten message that says, "I don't suppose you will recognize who I am? We have had three fires since 8:48 (sent 17) last night + 2 'o clock (sent 18) today. I hope you are well [...]"
