Description: Photograph of Mamie Davis George and a group of five women and one man standing outside the Mamie Davis George Prayer Chapel. The plaque bearing the name of the building can be seen just to the right of the open double doors of the chapel. Mrs. Davis is standing to the left of the plaque. The plaque reads: "MAMIE DAVIS GEORGE CHAPEL 1960". George has gray hair and is wearing dark rimmed glasses. Her dark dress has a corsage pinned on the left shoulder in honor of the dedication of the chapel named after her. She has a dark hat with a large two tone bow in front partially covering her gray hair. On back of photo: in pencil "1-5x7 #8"; and black stamp "Humpola Photo Studio Rosenberg, Texas".

Description: Photograph of a group of fourteen women and three men in the Mamie Davis George Prayer Chapel taken during the dedication of the chapel. George, who is wearing a dark dress and hat, is seated in the metal folding chair in the center of the photograph. The chapel was adjacent to the Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital and the building was once the Calvary Episcopal Church. [This photograph is similar to 2000.018.008 except two of the women in the front row have removed their eyeglasses and the woman on front row, left is not holding a purse with floral accents in the 009 photo]. On back of photo: blue ink lines marking through pencil erasures and stamped in black "Humpola Photo Studio Rosenberg, Texas" and in pencil "#7".

According to the "1996 George Ranch Historical Park Interpreter Training Manual" the oak tree was planted in 1824 by Nancy Jones. Four chairs made from tree stumps in foreground; three men are standing near a truck with tall platform and cables on back (water well truck?) can be seen to right rear of tree (partially obscured by a shrub in foreground). Partial view of a white building on left; small white wooden building on left between trees. Wooden fence in center background; white building partially visible in right background. (Photograph 2000.037.016 is similar, however, men near truck are in different positions). Photograph has a circled "2" written in pencil in bottom left corner. Written on back in pencil: "negative #363". Stamped in blue on back: Photograph by David J. Morris Houston Post, Houston, Texas".

A smaller oak tree to the right of photo has ferns planted around it. Long white building in extends from left center to right edge of photograph. Written on back of .001 in ink: "AP George Ranch 192". 001 also has an alternate ID 77.84.101 and was listed in the Fort Bend Museum with this number as being "given to the George Foundation 7-16-82".

A ladder can be seen near the bottom branches on the left side of the tree with a picnic table near the ladder. There are two wooden picnic tables and two white benches in right corner. Shrubs in foreground. Partial view of a white building on right. Wooden fence leads to George barns (roof tops visible in left to center background). A small white pump house is almost obscured by the trunk of the tree near center. The storage tank sits to the right of the pump house. Long white building on other side of wire fence in left background. Written on back of photograph in blue ink: "Oak Tree at Georges 100 yrs old-". Stamped on back of photograph in black: "Photograph by David J. & Mattie V. Morris Box 428 S. Houston, Texas 2709".
