[Christmas greeting card sent to the Georges by the Shivers Family]

Description: Christmas greeting card sent to the Georges by the Shivers Family. Exterior cover shows a black drawing of a front porch of a house with large columns. The focus is on a lamp attached to a wall with purple lines radiating from the lamp. The background shows bare trees and a large dome roofed building (capital?). Text on front reads: "Merry Christmas". The "M" and "C" are in purple; remaining lettering in black. The interior of the card is a drawing of a family hanging stockings near the mantle of a fireplace; candles and a wreath with two bells are placed on top of the mantle; decorated Christmas tree in left background. The photograph shows a young girl standing next to a large upholstered chair where a woman holding a baby is seated. A man dressed in a black suit is standing behind the chair. To the right of the chair is a young boy kneeling on one knee next to a Boxer dog. Description: Greeting card sent to the Georges from The Richard Newkirk family. The card has a photographic image of two young girls standing in front of a fireplace. The young lady on the left is wearing a short sleeved dark velour dress. The girl on right is wearing a striped taffeta dress with elbow length sleeves and a plaid black trimmed inset at bodice. She is holding a wrapped gift box. There is a pot plant in bottom left corner. Over the mantle of the fireplace is an ornate wooden framed mirror. On top of the mantle are two vases with floral arrangements, and several candles with greenery surrounding them. Small votive candles fill in between flowers and tapered candles. Black text at bottom of card reads: "Suzanne and Joan send Greetings from The Richard Newkirks". The card has scalloped edging. Written in green ink on back of card: " 'Hello' Cousin Mamie! You can see what big girls I now have. Write us how you are getting along. We'd love to hear from you. Sincerely, Johny (?)".
