This view of downtown is on the south side of Avenue D between 2nd Street and College Street, with a drainage ditch in between which overflowed into the fire station and Herald offices, at the left."

The bell tower and duck pond are visible near the front center of the photo, where a U-shaped drive is clearly seen. Description: Photograph taken during the early 1960's depicts the Killeen City Jail. B. W. "Buster" Adams, Chief of Police, appears in the center of the picture. To the left is Don Cannon and to the right is Leon Phillips. The police department, city hall and the jail were located on the NW corner of Gray Street and Avenue D until 1965.
