Lee College
The first enrolled class was in 1934. Lee College has become an integral part of the Baytown community so much so they even have a water tower which proudly displays the following phrase, Baytown, Home of Lee College.
Today Lee College's mission is to serve the Baytown Community by providing innovative and quality education to its diverse students along guided pathways to gainful employment, personal enrichment, and lifelong learning.
The Lee College Archives Committee provides personal enrichment and life-long learning by possessing the following collections: Baytown and veteran oral histories, historical Lee College photographs, and historical Lee College publications. The Lee College Archives Committee is committed to making these valuable collections accessible to all, by making them freely available on the Internet. This particular oral history project is made possible by a 2017 grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (Texas State Library and Archives Commission). Lee College is proud to be partnering with the University of North Texas to make its first digitized collection part of the Portal to Texas History.
