Description: Photograph of the Border Patrolmen in Marfa, Texas. (L-R, top row): Charles P. Holmes, Ware Hord, William Schrader, Jesse Lee Blackwell, Charles Hayes, George Dennis and Shelley Barnes. These men patroled the border with Mexico on horseback with their bedrolls on the back. They often slept along the river.

Crescencia Natividad, Cook at the Brite Ranch

Description: Photograph of Crescencia Natividad in 1936. She was the cook at the Brite Ranch during the bandit raid of 1917. She could not read or write but could cook with the best of them. She cooked at the ranch for Van Neil, Oscar & Tommy Wells. She also cooked in Marfa, Texas for Mrs. Brite. In this photo she stands outside the house at the ranch.
