Description: Letter from Charles Moore to the author of a book he had just read in which he says persons who do their own thinking are cranks. He discusses his thoughts on marriage and family. At the time of his marriage he found a woman who would fit his bill and proposed marriage to her as a partnership. Love was never mentioned. He expresses regret that his family name will die out with him. He admires the good wife who can tolerate the "crankyness" of an erratic man. Chambersville, Texas is written on the back.

[Petition for building a school for the poor]

Description: The citizens of Northumberland County agree to a charter allowing another academy of the same name within the same county for the poor. The funding is discussed and the land that was for public use will be used. Petitioners are against the school being built with public funds and believe that the poor should be paying for their school. The petitioners believe that in building the school it would go against the legislation of the county. The author gives examples of cases that disprove the petitioners evidence.

Description: This is a document from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is a list of candidates running under the Prohibition ticket in Texas. The ticket includes candidates for offices of President, Vice-President, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General,Comptroller, Land Commissioner, Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Judge of Criminal Court of Appeals, and Judge of Civil Court of Appeals. It also includes candidates running for Senate, Congress, and local government offices. The ticket is undated.

Description: Promissory note from C. B. Moore to H. S. Moore in 1884. C. B. Moore promised to pay $55 by July 20, 1884. The amount was paid off on October 6, 1884. On the reverse side of the note are some handwritten notes by C. B. Moore regarding the state of his finances.

Moore recorded that C. B. Moore paid $28.40 toward the note on December 8 and $30 toward the note on December 12.
