Description: Patent for an upright cylindrical cistern made from sheet-metal. This patent "consists in the application to and around the upper open end of the cistern and also if desired at different places around the body of the cistern, of a strengthening ring made of either wrought iron or steel or other suitable metal tubing or piping, to stiffen the cylindrical cistern, said piping or tubing being suitably fastened to the cistern and being arranged around the outside or inside of the same, but preferably around the outside and closely hugging said cistern" (lines 10-20).

Clamp or Fastener for Wire Fences.

Description: Patent for a new and improved clamp for wire fences. This design "is to make a device by which the horizontal rails of a wire fence may be conveniently fastened to the vertical stay-wires" (lines 12-15). It "consist[s] of the metallic disk or plate with the curved cross-groove and prongs to hold the horizontal rail and the perpendicular stay-wire, and the key" (lines 69-73).

Description: Patent for a new and improved clasp. This design "consist[s] of the front plate formed with the integral strap loop or slot at its upper end, the teeth at its lower end, and the opening above said teeth, the rear plate formed with integral teeth at its lower end, side ears at its upper end, and the lugs below said ears and projecting beyond the outer face of the plate, the spindle passing through the ears and provided with a spring throwing the plates apart, and the locking-plate pivoted at its upper end to the lugs and having a [different] lug projecting inward from said upper end" (lines 83-96).

Description: Patent for a new and improved clasp. This design "is to make a fastener for pieces of leather by which bridles and other parts of harness may be made with less stitching and riveting, thereby lessening the labor and cost of manufacture" (lines 15-20). To this end, it consists in "two plates, [one] having key-hole slots with beveled side walls, and the [other] carrying studs undercut . . . and provided with top pin, in combination with the spring-plate perforated . . . to receive [the] pin to form the leather clasp or fastening described" (lines 77-83).

Description: Patent for "an invention is an improved claw-bar for drawing railroad-spikes, the object of my invention being to provide the bar with a pivoted fulcrum-piece which is adapted to facilitate the engagement of the toe or claw of the bar with the head of a spike, to increase the leverage of the bar in withdrawing the spike, and to provide means to relieve the pivots or trunnions of the fulcrum-piece of stress when the bar is being operated todraw a spike."
