Apparatus for Scouring Water-Ways.

Description: Patent for an improved apparatus for scouring water-ways by using water-discharge pipes and air-discharge pipes arranged at each side of the vessel. When “vessel is slowly moved forward while the water and air forcing pumps are working,..... direct force of the water-jets and air-jets will agitate and scatter and lift the dislodged particles and float them much higher and longer than would be the case were the water-jet pipes alone used.” (Lines 63-75) Illustration is included.

Description: Patent for an improved machine that sinks caissons into gravel or mud in order to make a foundation for breakwater, jetty, bridge, or similar purpose. It applies continuous and heavy pressure to the caisson during operation, and "is provided with a jet apparatus to force the sand and mud from within the caisson and cause it to settle around the outer portion of the same, thus holding it firmly in place, and which in general enables a caisson foundation to be laid with great facility and in a substantial manner" (lines 20-26).

Mosquito Bar Frame.

Description: Patent for a new and improved mosquito-bar frame. This design "relates to improvements in that class of mosquito-bar frames which are adapted to be placed above a bed, so as to support the mosquito-netting in a way to cover the bed and guard the occupants thereof; and the object of [the] invention is to produce an extremely simple frame which may be easily dropped into a horizontal position over the bed or as easily tipped up and made to slide behind the head-board, where it will be entirely out of the way" (lines 7-17).
