Description: Patent for a water-wheel. The object of this invention is to provide a water-wheel in which the energy of the water shall act upon a series of peripheral buckets on a principle of hydraulic pressure in contradistinction to that of mere impact and momentum.

Provision Safe.

Description: Patent for a new and improved safe. This design "has for its objects, among others, to provide a simple, cheap, and economical safe, in which provisions may be kept cool during the hot season and from freezing during the winter weather. I provide a suitable post or support, from which extend brackets, shelves, or hooks or other provisions for the support of the various articles to be contained therein. [T]he whole [is covered] with a cloth and [has] a water tank or receptacle at the upper end and . . . ha[s] a stream of water flow[ing] or trickl[ing] down upon the cloth to saturate the same" (lines 14-25).

Clothes Pounder.

Description: Patent for a new and improved clothes pounder. This design "consist[s] of an outer cone with openings and socket near its upper end, a plurality of smaller cones with open bottoms within the outer cone and having their upper ends secured to the bottom of the said socket of the larger cone, and a conical guard around the upper end of the outer cone and extended below said openings independent of the outer cone and terminating in a vertical depending flange at a distance from the said outer cone" (lines 77-87).

Folding Bed.

Description: Patent for a new and improved folding bed. This design consists "of the base having side standards and an intermediate screen, two beds pivotally connected together and to the said standards at their inner corners and adapted to fold on each other and against the said screen, two drop-doors to close the open sides of the base and adapted to extend beneath the outer corners of the beds and support and hold them in a closed position, and two twin springs, one for each side of the bed, each spring being approximately U-shaped, the parallel members having coils at their upper ends" (lines 81-93).

Dumping Wagon.

Description: Patent for a new and improved dumping wagon. This design is "to provide a double dump for carrying dirt, sand, gravel, and other loose material on ordinary road-wagons, together with mechanism for instantly unloading the same" (lines 8-12). To this end, it consists "of a frame, double dumping-boxes swinging upon axles, and a U-shaped dumping lever, said lever provided with points extending slightly beyond its axis" (lines 90-93).

Description: Patent for an attachment for thrashing-machines "for cutting the bands on the sheaves of wheat, rice, or other grain, to spread the loosened bundles out uniformly, and to then feed them thus spread out into the thrashing-machine, whereby the strain on the machine can be made more uniform" (lines 15-20) and the capacity and efficiency can be increased.

This design "is to construct a simple and efficient rock-drill in which the forward feeding and rotating of the drill are accomplished automatically" (lines 15-18). It consists in "the drill-rod, a tappet-plate placed loosely on the drill-rod, clutch mechanism connected with the tappet-plate for engaging the drill-rod, a spring for impelling the drill-rod, a cam provided with conical ends for lifting the tappet-plate, and the guide" (lines 20-26).

Hydraulic Propulsion of Vessels.

Description: Patent for a new and improved hydraulic propulsion. This design "is to provide an improved means for the application of the jet principle in the hydraulic propulsion of vessels; and it consists in the combination, with the hull of the vessel, of one or more main or trunk tubes arranged longitudinally to the vessel and of tapering shape, largest at its front end, which is open, and provided along its length with a series of nozzles opening along the side of the vessel in rearward direction, and one or more propeller-wheels arranged within the main tube and adapted to suck water in at the front" (lines 8-20).
