Wrist-Guide and Foot-Guard for Pianos.

Description: Patent for “…a piano attachment consisting of an adjustable wrist-pin and foot-guard adapted to serve as a means for securing the proper position of the wrist and forearm in practice and also adapted to protect the front panel of the instrument and serve, with children, as a foot-rest. Further objects and advantages of this invention will appear in the following description, and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims” (lines 8-19).

Seed Separating Machine.

Description: Patent for a new and improved seed separator. This design "provide[s] a machine for [separating seeds] in which the grinding and separating actions will be performed continuously and in a more automatic manner, dispensing with the work of the hand, requiring a less amount of water, and at the same time performing the grinding and separating actions in a more rapid and perfect manner" (lines 29-36).

Straw Cutter.

Description: Patent for a new and improved straw cutter. This design "relates to certain improvements in straw-cutters; and it consists in the [novel] construction and arrangement of parts" (lines 13-15). The novel construction and arrangement of parts means that "[t]he machine is simple, durable, and inexpensive in construction, will not readily get out of repair, and will perform the necessary work in an efficient manner" (lines 1-4).

Hame-Fastener.

Description: Patent for a simple and inexpensive hame-fastener that has "two adjustable parts, one of which is provided with hooks to be engaged by means on the other part" (lines 11-13). The invention is adjustable and does not unlock or disengage accidentally but can easily be unlocked on purpose.

Railway-Bicycle.

Description: Patent for a railway-bicycle that travels on one rail and needs two wheels with connecting frames. It has a forward double flanged wheel and a wheel behind the first wheel, and this machine is faster and lighter than other similar machines.

Car Coupling.

Description: Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the fork-shaped draw-heads having under-beveled bearings between the branches, the slotted coupler-bars having hook-lugs in front of the slots and adapted to interlock, the side bearings or ledges on each side of each hook-lug, designed to support the sides of the bar and to allow the hook-lugs to enter the slots in coupling" (lines 19-27).

Spring for Riding Saddles.

Description: Patent for a new and improved saddle spring. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a riding-saddle, of the series of transverse bridge-springs extending over the saddle-opening and having spiral ends bearing on the tree, and the longitudinal springs at the sides of said traverse springs" (lines 52-57).

Car Seat Recorder.

Description: Patent for a new and improved car-seat recorder. This design consists in "[t]he combination of the following elements: a car-axle, the depressible car-seat, and the recording apparatus arranged alongside the seat and consisting of friction feed-wheels, a paper strip, meshing spur-gears, and a puncturing device arranged vertically, a lever which operatively connects said seat and apparatus, and gearing which connects the latter with the axle, whereby movement of the car operates said apparatus and enables the record to be made by slitting the strip when the seat is depressed" (lines 22-33).

Spring Socket Iron for Vehicles.

Description: Patent for a new and improved spring socket-iron for vehicles. This design "relates to thills and thill-couplings by means of which a more convenient and safe fastening for the thills or pole of a carriage or wagon are provided, whereby the thills are readily attached to or detached from spring-socket thill-irons, and the irons are securely locked in the ears of the axle-clips by means of flanged bolts working in recessed movable bushings in the ears of the clips and in the eye of the thill-irons" (lines 14-23).

Description: Patent for a new and improved lock for hames. This design "consist[s] of the coupling branches . . . [one] being composed of the two pivoted sections forming the bell-mouth, the section having the slot and spring secured to its opposite end and pressing against the underside of the section, and the branch having the catch-tooth adapted to enter the bell-mouth and engage the slot" (lines 67-75).
