Description: Patent for improvement to the machine set forth in the patent granted to John S. Doak and Alexander G. Farrington on April, 1902, No. 696419. (Page 1, lines 12-14.) The improvements are to use “a pair of troughs connected to a truck and provided with upwardly-projecting wings on their outer edges, spring-arms attached to the truck and pressing normally against the wings and the outside parts of the troughs, spiral springs adjustably mounted on the truck and pressing against the spring-arms, and means for forcing insects from growing plants into the troughs.” (Page 3, lines 74-83.) Description: Patent for improvement in account-books by “dispensing a multiplicity of books in keeping accounts and to devise means for combining in one book and upon a single page thereof the features of the ledger, day-book, bill-book and bills-receivable book, said page to be so provided with perforation as to admit of the detachment of certain parts, leaving intake theat part of the page that is intended for permanent record.” (Lines 13-22) Illustration is included.

Vehicle-Seat.

Description: Patent for an improvement in vehicle-seats, intended especially for uses in wagon-seats, by constructing a supporting frame consist of two shafts, each having two cranks with two springs connected with the wrists of the cranks. The seat is supported upon these springs which are secured to the underside of the seat-board by employing two blocks that are safely attached beneath the seat. The movements of the springs preserve the horizontal position of the seat even when weight is unequally disposed. Illustration is included.

Description: Design patent for a rosary watch-chain that includes strings of beads, hearts, an image of the "Virgin Mary," and a watch-key in the shape of a crucifix. There is no accompanying illustration.

Combined Railway-Switch and Car-Replacing Mechanism.

Description: Patent for a combined railway-switch and car-replacing mechanism that is meant to "provide certain improved devices which can be arranged to operate as a switch mechanism, or as car replacing means, which can be easily manipulated, are of a simple construction and which will effectively serve for their intended purposes" (lines 11-16). It can be easily assembled and dissembled.

Description: Patent for a new and improved snap hook. This design "consists in a hook provided with a sliding latch on the shank and on the end of the hook, whereby this hook will remain closed in whatever position it is placed" (lines 11-14).

Cotton Elevator and Distributer.

Description: Patent for a pneumatic feed device or elevator and distributor for cotton gins. It has a mechanical conveyer that connects "with the blast device, so that a positive force feed is obtained and the cotton is placed evenly over the gins, and wherein further an overflow box is employed and an independent means of feeding the cotton through the medium of the said blast device, either from a vehicle or bin or from the overflow box, thus enabling the gin to be fed even while the connection between the bin or main source of supply is cut off; and wherein also the blower or fan employed in connection with the pneumatic conveying device may likewise be used for forcing the speed delivered from the gin to any desired point" (lines 12-26).

Ruffling Attachment for Sewing Machines.

Description: Patent for a new and improved ruffling attachment for sewing machines. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the flat main plate having the loop, of the ruffling-plate having its side at one end turned over parallel with its main portion, and provided with a spring tongue or plate that is inserted in the loop" (lines 59-63).

Riding Saddle.

Description: Patent for a new and improved saddle. This design "provide[s] a flexible or elastic seat, consisting of a number of thicknesses of tanned sheepskin, with the wool on, between the saddle-tree covering and the ordinary external rawhide or other covering, thus preventing the said covering from resting on the inner edges of the saddle-tree side bars, which forms a comfortable and easy saddle; and, in addition to this, [the] invention relates to the opening rearwardly and laterally in the saddle-tree for attaching the girth-rigging thereto, in place of the ordinary rings" (lines 30-41).
