Description: Patent for "supports for the bows of folding vehicle-tops, and has for its object to provide an improved device of this character for application to one end of the shifting rail of the top, so as to receive the bows and cushion them against injury in folding and when the vehicle is passing over a rough roadway." Description: Patent for improvement in account-books by “dispensing a multiplicity of books in keeping accounts and to devise means for combining in one book and upon a single page thereof the features of the ledger, day-book, bill-book and bills-receivable book, said page to be so provided with perforation as to admit of the detachment of certain parts, leaving intake theat part of the page that is intended for permanent record.” (Lines 13-22) Illustration is included.

Description: Patent for an improvement in vehicle-seats, intended especially for uses in wagon-seats, by constructing a supporting frame consist of two shafts, each having two cranks with two springs connected with the wrists of the cranks. The seat is supported upon these springs which are secured to the underside of the seat-board by employing two blocks that are safely attached beneath the seat. The movements of the springs preserve the horizontal position of the seat even when weight is unequally disposed. Illustration is included.

Description: Patent for a combined railway-switch and car-replacing mechanism that is meant to "provide certain improved devices which can be arranged to operate as a switch mechanism, or as car replacing means, which can be easily manipulated, are of a simple construction and which will effectively serve for their intended purposes" (lines 11-16). It can be easily assembled and dissembled.

Description: Patent for a pneumatic feed device or elevator and distributor for cotton gins. It has a mechanical conveyer that connects "with the blast device, so that a positive force feed is obtained and the cotton is placed evenly over the gins, and wherein further an overflow box is employed and an independent means of feeding the cotton through the medium of the said blast device, either from a vehicle or bin or from the overflow box, thus enabling the gin to be fed even while the connection between the bin or main source of supply is cut off; and wherein also the blower or fan employed in connection with the pneumatic conveying device may likewise be used for forcing the speed delivered from the gin to any desired point" (lines 12-26).

Description: Patent for a new and improved ruffling attachment for sewing machines. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the flat main plate having the loop, of the ruffling-plate having its side at one end turned over parallel with its main portion, and provided with a spring tongue or plate that is inserted in the loop" (lines 59-63).

Description: Patent for a new and improved saddle. This design "provide[s] a flexible or elastic seat, consisting of a number of thicknesses of tanned sheepskin, with the wool on, between the saddle-tree covering and the ordinary external rawhide or other covering, thus preventing the said covering from resting on the inner edges of the saddle-tree side bars, which forms a comfortable and easy saddle; and, in addition to this, [the] invention relates to the opening rearwardly and laterally in the saddle-tree for attaching the girth-rigging thereto, in place of the ordinary rings" (lines 30-41).

Description: Patent for a new and improved thill-carrier for harnesses. This design utilizes a loop or ring, and "[b]y this construction of the thill-carriers it will be seen that the trouble and annoyance of running the thills into and backing them out of the thill-carriers are entirely overcome, and by means of the loops or rings . . . the thills are perfectly confined in the carriers . . . [they] may be made very cheap, and also very ornamental to the harness" (lines 66-76).

Description: Patent for a new and improved table. This design "can be adjusted vertically by turning the screw-spindle, or it can be drawn upward, and will be held in position by the spring-catch, which catches on the shoulders. If the table is to be used at a sick-bed, it can be projected laterally by drawing the table-top in the direction in which it is to project, the track-plate sliding in the grooved plate. The table-top can be locked in the desired position by means of the binding screw" (lines 90-100).

Description: Patent for a new and improved sprinkler. This design consists "[i]n a cotton or other plant sprinkler, the reservoir or tank mounted upon a suitable carriage or truck, and having connected thereto a pump, in combination with the grooved pulley, rigidly secured to the wheel of the carriage or truck, belt or chain, pulley, clutch, and crank, connected by suitable levers or arms to the piston-rod . . . with the pipes, provided with roseheads, of the arm or carrier, formed in sections and connected to a suitable lever for raising or lowering it" (lines 20-33).

Description: Patent for a new and improved tire tightener. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the wheel-fellies, one of which has a longitudinal socket, of the overlapping sections secured to the contiguous ends of the tire, and having projecting lugs, an adjusting-bolt carried by one of the lugs and bearing against the other lug, and a protecting-plate having a threaded opening for the passage of the bolt and interposed between the end of the felly in which [a] socket is formed, and the lug adjacent thereto" (lines 80-90).
