Description: Patent for a new and improved ant trap. This design calls for a tank of water to be buried in the ground and a collar of cheap material to be attached to the tank and placed over the mouth of an anthill. The concave nature of the collar prevents ants from climbing out of it, so they are forced into the water tank, where they drown; the design is cheaper and less toxic than previous designs.

Description: Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "the combination of two sliding draw-heads, each provided with a shank having coiled around it a spring and a nut secured thereto, an upper sliding supporting-plate for the pin, having a tripping device, a lower sliding supporting-plate for the link, having a catch, a latch with a trip-arm for holding and releasing said plate, and a spring for drawing it back to its normal position" (lines 11-20).

Description: Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and effective combined churn motor and dasher that continuously and smoothly circulates cream. It has a large wheel the operator turns, which is connected through a series of pulleys to the dasher. A large frame holds the parts in place.

Description: Patent for a simple and practical fence-wire stretcher that stretches "fence-wire in the construction of fences and also taking up the slack in the wire when it sags at any point throughout the line of fence, the device being simple in construction and easily connected and disconnected from the post, as circumstances require" (lines 14-20).

Description: Patent for a cleaner for cotton-gin saws for "an improved construction of cleaner adapted to be used in connection with saw-cylinders on different kinds of gins" (lines 10-13) and "which may be easily fitted and held securely in position in a detachable manner" (lines 18-19).

Description: Patent for a dish-cleaner that is used in a sink or another container. Its object is to force "air through the water and in contact with the submerged dishes" (lines 17-18). Description: Patent for a new and improved motorized butter churn. This design utilizes paralleled uprights, shafts, through-holes, screw-holes, a crank, pit-men, and a cross-head (lines 85-92). This combination and arrangement of parts allows rotary motion to be converted to reciprocal motion, which improves the churning process.

This design consists in "[t]he combination of the main frame, the springs having their connecting pieces curved or coiled to form double heart-shaped configurations, the hinged head-rests, the wide bails, movably attached at the ends of their side pieces to the connecting-pieces of the springs at the side edges of the head-rests, and having their middle pieces curved or coiled to form heart-shaped configurations resting upon the tops of the springs of the head-rest, and the coiled wire coiled around all the portions of the springs" (lines 76-87).

This design consists in "hinged jaws, draw-bars provided with a pin-hole . . . the jaws acting to support the pin until forced apart by the link, a hinged lever, a plate pivoted to said lever, said pin being attached to said plate, and an operating chain or rod connected to said plate for raising said pin" (lines 29-36).

Description: Patent for an ant-trap with an inflexible bottom with a hole in the middle, a perpendicular section rough on the inside and smooth on the outside, and the perpendicular smooth sides are attached to the edges of the bottom. The trap has a device that prevents the ants from running around the trap.

Description: Patent for a new and improved wire stretcher. This design "relates to improvements in wire-stretchers for use in building wire fences, and also adapted to take up the wire and reel the same when it is desired to take a fence down" (lines 12-16). It consists, "with the main frame, of the inclined and slotted standards secured thereto, the boxes arranged on said standards, the pivoted pawl carried by the boxes, and a reel-shaft carrying a pinion and arranged in the slots of the standards and supported by the boxes" (lines 89-95).
