First Baptist Church - Group to Consider a New Church

Description: Photograph of a group of people from the congregation of First Baptist Church. They are arranged in two rows and those in the front are sitting in chairs. Most of the people are wearing choir robes, and a man to the left of the photograph is posing with a string bass. The photograph was taken outside, in front of a building When First Baptist Church was at it's 14th and Red River Streets location in 1930, Rev. Levi Stanmore selected 10 groups to discuss, review the survey given to them, and at a later date give their group reports to him about "considering a New Church". Documents pertaining to the case of Howeth vs. Mills, et al., cause no. 132, 1855-1856

Description: Documents pertaining to the case of Howeth vs. Mills, et al. include copies of the initial judgement in the case of Mills & Jockush vs. Walton & Tuggle which took place in Galveston County as well as the motion for a new trial. The documents pertaining to the resulting case in Henderson County include (but are not limited to) subpoenas and citations for summons of persons involved on both sides of the case, exceptions and answers from the defendant (and a later, amended answer), writs of injunction, bonds, a motion to perpetrate injunction, a motion to instruct the jury, a motion to enter evidence for the plaintiff, and a statement to the jury. Documents were submitted to the District Court of Henderson County and filed by the clerk.
