[Building on fire]

Description: Photograph of two unidentified people standing in front of a building that is on fire. They do not appear to be firefighters. Junebug Clark Narrative: My father always referred to this photo as, "The Night They Tried to Burn Detroit Down." This photo appeared on the cover of Newsweek magazine in the Summer of 1967 August 7, 1967. The "Detroit Riots" as they were known lasted a full week. Joe and Junebug covered the riot and aftermath for Newsweek and Life magazines. The Newsweek issue also has 3 other Joe Clark photos inside. Photo by: Joe Clark, HBSS.
