[Morning Reports for Company F, 1864-1865]

Description: Morning reports of Company F for the years 1864 and 1865. The monthly reports begin in September 1864 and end in July 1865. These reports detail the company's station; the number of soldiers on active duty, special duty, daily duty, or extra duty; the soldier's rank within the company; the number of men who were sick, arrested,confined, or on detached leave; as well as those who were with and without leave. The reports also note the number of serviceable and unserviceable horses. Included along with the monthly reports was a remarks page where the daily happenings of the company were recorded. These remarks listed men who were on furlough, in the hospital, or those who were missing from duty. Hamilton K. Redway and his company were stationed at Camp Piatt and Kelly's Creek during the months the reports were recorded in this book. Redway's signature appears several times in the morning reports.

Description: Quarterly return of ordnance and ordnance stores received, issued, and remaining on hand in Company "F," First Veteran Regiment New York Cavalry, for the second quarter in 1865. The return details the amount of serviceable and unserviceable small arms as well as the accoutrements, equipment, and appendages which corresponded to the small arms. The document also notes who the arms were received from and the person they were issued to during this quarter. The return was created by Capt. Hamilton K. Redway while he as stationed at Camp Piatt in West Virginia. It was signed by Redway on July 1, 1865.

[General orders no. 10, April 5, 1865]

Description: General orders no. 10 specifies that this command, 1st Separate Brigade, must ready themselves to be moved at once. It details that all surplus baggage and stores would be disposed of and the soldiers would be fully outfitted with clothing, as well as with camp and garrison equipment for active duty. Each regiment would receive two wagons for use by officers, mess kits, cooking utensils, and hospital supplies.

Description: Circular from the War Department containing "General Orders No. 193" to perfect organizing the services of the Ordnance Department, as connected with Armies in the field and the Military Departments, and at the same time securing for that Department the services of a body efficient officers, trained to its special duties. The document includes 10 orders sent by Secretary of War E. D. Townsend as well as the specific orders of George D. Ramsay to complete the orders of Townsend. Two forms are printed at the end of the circular: Form No. 31 (b), Monthly Report of Ordnance and Acting Ordnance Officers on duty; and Form No. 31 (c), Quarterly Report of Officers responsible for Ordnance Property.

[Receipt of supplies, December 30, 1864]

Description: Receipt of supplies shipped to Capt. Hamilton K. Redway at his station in Kelly's Creek, West Virginia. The receipt states that fifty bales of hay, one hundred sacks of oats, and 236 bushels of corn were sent via train to Redway at Kelly's Creek. On the back of the receipt, someone noted that forty three bales of hay, eleven sacks of oats, and one lot of corn were received for forage.

Description: Partial page of list of clothing stores. Only one column of the form is used and seems to possibly be a price list for items of clothing and equipage, including forage caps ($1.00), woolen blankets ($7.00),bugles ($3.65), and flannel sack coats ($4.80). There are no dates or names on the fragment, but it is probably from New York Volunteer Cavalry in 1864 or 1865.
