Description: Top of black cotton. V neckline in front with ruched keyhole at base in rounded yoke sweeps across the top of both sleeves on front and back. At base of yoke on center back there is a circul ruched keyhole that ties at the top; the back is open from the top of this hole to hook-and-eye closure at center of rounded back neckline. Portion beneath yoke on both sides is thin ribbed knit. No lining.

Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Wilson Allmand. Allmand joined the Marine Corps in May 1942 and received basic training in San Diego. Upon completion, he was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division as a BAR rifleman. He served in Guadalcanal, which was swarming with mosquitos.
