Description: Patent for a new and improved stock-collar. This design is "for the purpose of positively and unmistakably identifying cattle and other like stock, and to obviate the necessity of marking and branding cattle, &c., which shall be light, simple, strong, and durable in construction, thoroughly effective for the purposes designed, easily attached to and removed from the necks of cattle, &c., which shall be cheap and inexpensive of manufacture, and not liable to become lost, misplaced, broken, or detached by the animal in its efforts to release itself" (lines 16-26).

Necktie and Collar Fastener.

Description: Patent for a new and improved tie and collar fastener. This design consists in "[a] fastener for securing the proper relation between the shirt-band, collar, and necktie, consisting of a spring adapted to fit inside the shirt-band and next to the neck, in combination with a hollow stud on the middle of the convex side, having a separable head with spring-catches, and the bent hook-sections, toothed . . . and arranged to separate the shirt-band, collar, and necktie" (lines 66-75).

Horse Collar.

Description: Patent for a new and improved horse collar. This design "is to supply a cheap, durable, easy fitting and self adjusting or flexible horse-collar for farm and other use, and which shall readily adapt itself to the form of the animal, and thereby obviate those abrasions which are so common with the use of a rigid and unyielding collar. To these and other ends [the] collar is made for the most part of what is known as "moss-yarn," with its strands or fibers arranged and the body of the collar subjected to pressure in a mold or press" (lines 9-20).

Bell Collar.

Description: Patent for a new and improved collar. This design "consists in the combination of a flat metallic band, which passes over the top of the neck, two metallic blocks, which extend down opposite sides of the neck and are provided with locks, two perforated slides, which are connected together at their lower ends by a metallic loop . . . The object of [the] invention is to provide a bell-collar for animals, and which is not only adjustable in size, so as to be adapted to necks of different sizes, but which, when placed upon an animal's neck, can only be removed by some one who has a key to one or both of the locks" (lines 13-29).

Description: Patent for a new and improved horse-collar fastener. This design "relates to certain new and useful improvements in horse-collar fastenings of that class designed to lock the two sides of the horse-collar and to permit of the ready separation thereof to facilitate the placing and removal of the collar when desired; and it has for its object to provide a simple and cheap device of this character wherein provision shall be made for the retention of the lever against the catch, and also means for preventing the drawing of the screws" (lines 15-26).
