Hurley serves as master of ceremonies, introducing the speakers. A performance of the finale of Beethoven's 9th Symphony by the UNT Symphony Orchestra and UNT Grand Chorus is featured halfway through the ceremony. After the musical performance, the investiture ceremony, where Pohl receives the UNT medallion, is conducted. Provost Dr. David Kesterson presents Dr. Pohl with the ceremonial mace and explains the symbolic significance of the UNT presidential mace. Then, Dr. Pohl speaks to express his gratitude and share his vision. After Dr. Pohl speaks, Dr. Hurley asks those in attendance to rise and sing UNT's alma mater, "Glory to the Green," led by UNT's Grand Chorus. A recessional concludes the ceremony.
