Description: Assortment of 12 hand-drawn maps outlining the borders of different pieces of land in Kerr County; the Moore tract, Goodread tract, Bigford tract, and Burney tract are all drawn on the separate pages. On the back of the envelope there is a list of claims and deeds made between A. S. Moore, George L. Leigh, and Edward B. Leigh.

[Handwritten Title Transfer from James Sellers to C. C. Paine, March 7, 1900]

Description: Document stating James Sellers of Centre Point in Kerr County has applied to lease land for $19.20; the table on the front outlines the section of land, and the company that James Sellers leased the land from. There is a handwritten statement on the back of the document that shows Sellers releasing his rights to the lease to C. C. Paine for $135; the second statement shows Paine releasing his rights to the lease to George L. Leigh for $135 as well. Also included is a small strip of paper with a statement that reads: "When remitting future payments, to guard against errors and insure prompt returns, please give the NAME of lessee and the application NUMBER."

[Contract Created for Virginia Leigh and Edward B. Leigh]

Description: Contract created after the death of George L. Leigh for the organization, operation, and ownership of the 320 acres of which he owned. The document explains, on page 3, which portions of the land and its assets will be owned by Virginia, Edward, and William Leigh; it also acknowledges that Virginia will assist Edward in fees to be paid for George's funeral, burial, and the administration of the land tract known as "Stoneleigh Ranch."

[Bill of Sale and Transfer from George L. Leigh to John A. Bonnell]

Description: Bill of sale from George L. Leigh to John A. Bonnell acknowledging the sale of land and 110 heads of cattle. The note goes on to say that this "transfer and Bill of Sale is made on the following terms and conditions to secure the payment of a promissory note for $782.66" from Bonnell, payable on May 1, 1887. The check included in the record is worth $716.66 from John A. Bonnell to Edward A. Leigh.

[Declaration of Trust Created by George L. Leigh]

Description: Declaration of trust created by George L. Leigh acknowledging that George has placed in trust all the property on the land owned, technically, by Edward B. Leigh though George "has been in the possession of it." According to the document Edward furnished the money for which the land was originally acquired; this document was meant to "furnish ample evidence to said Edward B. Leigh of his rights in the premises, to fully and effectually establish his ownership to all of said property."

Description: Warranty deed prepared between George and Virginia Leigh and D. P. Slottery acknowledging the sale of land for one thousand dollars. The deed is signed at the bottom by the notary public, William D. Drown, vouching for the fact that all parties were in attendance.

[Warranty Deed from George and Virginia Leigh to Edward Leigh, July 23, 1887]

Description: Warranty deed from George and Virginia Leigh to Edward B. Leigh for the purchase of a parcel of land in Kerr County, Texas. The deed specifies that Edward is paying $1,000 for the track "or parcel of land known as survey No. 1429" situated along Sunflower Creek, a tributary of the Guadalupe River.

[Land Grant Certificate Presented to George L. Leigh, October 25, 1890]

Description: Land grant certificate presented to George L. Leigh and signed by the governor of Texas, L. S. Ross. This grant to George, his heirs or assigns "forever Three Hundred and Twenty (320) acres of land." The rest of the certificate references the specified land and details the perimeter and borders of it in terms of longitude and latitude degrees as well as compass directions.

[Deed of Trust from George L. Leigh to Paul Villaret and Joseph Heinen, February 4, 1891]

Description: Deed placing "survey number 1430 situated in Kerr County...patent number 181" in trust as collateral against a promissory note made to Joseph Heinen for the original purchase of the land by George L. Leigh. As part of the transaction it includes a sale of the land to Paul Villaret for ten dollars making him the executor of the trust.

[Tax Documents from 1898, 1899, and 1900]

Description: Four tax documents from Kerr County, two of which are dated January 31, 1899 and the other two are dated January 31, 1900. Two of the documents were sent to George L. Leigh and two were sent to Edward B. Leigh; each document states the amount of taxes and the value for property that was assessed. The fifth document was sent to George L. Leigh and says the taxes taken amounted to $14.25.
