Last Danish Ladies Aid Meeting

Description: Photograph of a group of people seated around a room during the last meeting of the Danish Ladies Aid organization. According to accompanying information, they held the meeting at the Danevang Lutheran Church. A list of names is supplied as well, but they have not been applied specifically to any one person. The group largely consists of older men and women. The women are dressed conservatively in dresses and pearls, while the two men present wear pants and long-sleeve collar shirts. Two windows are visible on the left and right walls. The right window is considerably larger than the first. They both have curtains and both have been pulled. Several notations and two stamps have been made on the back of the photograph.

Anna Nygaard

Description: Photograph of Anna Nygaard standing outside holding a baby in her right hand. Her head is turned towards the baby as she leans slightly to the left. She is wearing a patterned, lightweight dress that goes below her knees. Nygaard Girls

Description: Photograph of three woman seated outside on brick steps. The steps lead up to a shut door of a house. The woman in the far back, identified as Sigrid Nygaard, holds her right arm outstretched with her hand placed on the brick. The two women in front of her, from left to right, have been identified as Anna Nygaard and Ellen Nygaard. They both wear below-the-knee, long-sleeve dresses with bows attached at the neckline, stockings, and close-toed, dark Mary Jane shoes. They each hold the hand of a young boy whose name has not been provided. Hand-written text on the back appears to read "Lil Ida"; additionally, it states, "Anna, Sigrid, Ellen Nygaard".

Anna Nygaard - Nurse

Description: Photograph of Anna Nygaard (right) and an unidentified woman standing in front of a bench. Anna Nygaard, wears a three-quarter length sleeve, belted dress that goes below her knees, while the other woman wears a nursing uniform. Behind them, there is a various assortment of bushes, grasses, and trees, in what appears to be a garden. There is a hand-written text on the back of the photograph but it cannot be read with certainty. It has also been stamped in the center with an image of a woman and text that reads, "A Miss Snapshot Print by C.S. Edwards Shreveport, LA."

Danish Ladies Aid

Description: Black and white photograph of a large group of women standing in front of a wooden building that has its screen door open. The congregated women make up an organization known as the Danish Ladies Aid. They are gathered for a 50th anniversary celebration, according to accompanying information. Every woman is wearing jackets or coats. At the center, two women are holding together a chalkboard sign that reads: "50 Aars Jubelceum for Den Danoke Kvindeforenine in Danevang Te[xas]." (The last portion of the message is covered by one woman's hand.) There is a young girl standing in the front row amongst the older women.
