Trunk Fastening.

Description: Patent for a new and improved trunk-fastening. This design "consist[s] of a stationary block having a segmental groove in its under side, a stop at one end of said groove, an overlapping flange projecting from the outside bounding-rib of said groove, a rotary disk having a segmental extension, a flange projecting from the outer surface of said extension and adapted to enter said segmental groove, a circular flange projecting from the outside surface of the disk and fitting beneath the overlapping flange of the stationary block, said circular flange forming with the segmental flange" (lines 7-19).

This design "consists of a chain fixed to one side of the bag so as to swing on the lower edge, and having hooks, or, it may be, curved or straight studs, which are made to pass through eyes of the two sides of the bag and around or through another chain on the other side of the bag, making a very simple fastening that is equally secure as the staple fastening now in use and much more readily manufactured" (lines 7-16).

Bedstead Fastening.

Description: Patent for a new and improved bedstead fastening. This design "consist[s] in the locking-pin, the sections which are . . . provided with the laterally projecting alternating studs . . . having aligned vertical perforations to receive the said locking-pin, and their faces provided with the outer beveled flanges at the base of the studs, extending the entire length of the sections, so that when the sections are connected together they will meet each other in angular form, whereby the strain on the locking pin and the lateral studs is equalized" (lines 59-70).
