Description: Color postcard depicting two bears doing laundry. One hangs the laundry on a clothesline while the wind is blowing. The other has a washboard and tub and is scrubbing the clothes clean. Washing-Machine

Description: Patent for "improvements in the water-wheel and in the, mechanism for imparting motion thereto, whereby the washing-liquid is made to flow upward between the sides of an outer and inner pan and downward upon the articles to be washed, which are inclosed in the said inner pan, as will be now described and claimed, and is adapted to wash any articles that may be placed within the said inner pan" (lines 17-26).

Description: Patent for "a new and improved washing-machine arranged for use on any kind of tub and adapted to insure a perfect uniform washing of all the clothes in the tub by the use of yieldingly-mounted pounders, which intermittently change their position relatively to the clothes under treatment" (lines 9-16).

Wash Boiler.

Description: Patent for a new and improved laundry boiler. This design consists in "a partition at its lower end slightly above the bottom formed with a screw-threaded neck at its center, a perforated tube fitting with its lower end upon the neck and having its upper end closed, and a number of perforated triangular tubes upon the side of the boiler provided with stoppers at their upper ends and extending from the partition in the lower end of the boiler, and a rack consisting of rings connected at their upper edges by cross-pieces" (lines 76-86).

Clothes Pin.

Description: Patent for a new and improved clothespin. This design "has for its object to provide an improved pin that can be readily adjusted to any desired position upon the line, and which can be turned at any desired angle to clamp the clothes. The pin is constructed, preferably, of resilient wire—preferably galvanized or otherwise treated to prevent rusting of the same—and may be made in various sizes. [The design] form[s] the pin with an eye or ring portion, through which the line is passed, and with two sets of arms—one set having its two portions parallel with each other" (lines 11-22).
