Description: Quarterly occupation tax receipt given to P. B. Bundick of Matagorda County, Texas for his occupation of Ferryman. Mr. Bundick appears have paid a total of $2.63 on this particular quarter. The transaction was confirmed by the comptroller of public accounts, Jno. D. McCall, whose signature can be seen on the bottom right corner.

Description: The author is sorry that they do not have any news other than the constant rain. Jack goes to Mr. Turner's everyday and Jack sold his blind horse. Hlora Wallace got married. The Professor gave her glass fruit. Jack took pictures and she was not pleased with them. Although she is going to send a picture to Moore anyway. She asks when he will come to visit.

[H. Kempner, Fine, Horseback Speed Ticket]

Description: Transcription and two copies of court record no. 116, The Mayor, Aldermen and Harris Kempner, in which Kempner was charged with the offense of "running through the streets of Houston on horseback at a rate quicker than 5 miles an hour." Kempner was brought into court and, after evidence was presented, ordered to pay a fine of $5.00 plus the cost of the court for this offense.
