[Postcard of Centennial Mexican Flag]

Description: Postcard of an illustration of the Mexican flag bearing the portraits of two older men, one on the green section of the flag and one on the red section of the flag, with a scrolling banner at the bottom reading, "Centenario De Nuestra Independencia." The dates 1810 and 1910 are below the flag. The name Miguel Hidalgo Y Gostilla is under the portrait on the green section, while the name Porfirio Diaz is under the portrait on the right. The other side of the postcard is blank except for postcard markings.

[Wedding portrait of Louis J. Maresh and Louise Mary Zapalac]

Description: Wedding portrait of Louis J. Maresh and Louise Mary Zapalac, 1910. Louis is wearing a dark suit with white shirt and tie. He has a flower pinned on his right lapel. He is holding Louise's hand in his right hand. Louise is wearing a white blouse with shirring at top and lace insets. The belted waist leads to the skirt which begins pleating at midway point of floor length. Bows and lace accent the pleating. Her veil has white floral at top and tulle falls to floor behind her. Zapalac designed and sewed wedding dresses as a young woman. Profits from her work reverted to her parents' store. Zapalac received portraits of the couple in their ensembles as her part of the payment. The Maresh family lived in Sealy until 1924, when they moved to FBC and bought a farm at the intersection of Harlem and Madden Roads (north of the prison farm). Scanned image is of the copy.

[Bookmark belonging to Bessie Bruce]

Description: Bookmark with a thread tassel. The bookmark contains a drawing of a dog and the inscription, "I'm good for a trick or two." We assume that the bookmark served double-duty as a placeholder for a table at a social function as it is labeled, "Table No.2, Couple No.2" with the numbers handwritten in. The bookmark belonged Mrs. J. E. Hightower, formerly Bessie Elizabeth Bruce, and was found in her 1910 Denton High School Bronco yearbook.

Description: Copy negative of two pictures. The top picture is a portrait of three men sitting, wearing hats. There is a handwritten note on the picture that says, "Dear John, I will send you the picture of three of my friends. The one with the cane is John Callahan, the next is Bill Hudson, and the next is a (?) Claude." and "Thursday morning the dance was all O. K. Had a big time. Wish you could have been there C. G." The bottom picture is of seven men standing by a doorway in a saloon. Most of them are holding drinks.
