Description: Pair of pumps of rust brown suede. The shoes are designed with a rounded, open toe, and a reddish-brown grosgrain ribbon bow across vamp. The suede upper is pierced with small holes all-over the toebox and sides. The 2 3/8" high heels are of a modified Louis style. Description: Pair of ladies' gloves. The "hands" are of pale brown with white fabric, possibly a silk/cotton blend. Seamed on inside, they have 3 darts on back of each hand done with dark brown stitching. At wrist on each side is a v-shaped extension which joins to the "cuff", which is of light brown cotton with yellow tones. [Stephen E. Reed]

Description: Stephen E. Reed served as Mayor of Palestine from 1931 until his death in November 1934 and is buried in the East Hill section of the Palestine City Cemetery. Palestine's first airport, a 265 acre site located seven miles west of Palestine, was named for him. He was married to Mabel Gooch Reed, a daughter of John Young Gooch, in March 1900. The Reeds lived at 501 S. Magnolia for many years.
