Stamp Album For the purchase of United States War Savings Bonds

Description: Stamp album used for buying and storing war savings bonds; the note on the inside cover says this book will be worth $18.75 when it is completely full of stamps. The cover of the album is patriotically decorated with an eagles at the bottom and a red, white, and blue color scheme; the back cover has an illustration of a patriot holding a musket in his hand and an American flag in the background. Each page on the inside has empty squares to where one places a bought stamp.

[10 Filipino Pesos]

Description: Paper bill worth ten pesos used by the Japanese government during their occupation of the Philippines from 1942-1945. The front of the bill has text saying "The Japanese Government," and "Ten Pesos." On the right side of the bill there is a picture of a person riding a horse through a forest of palm trees, and on the left there is a large "X" printed in white. The back of the bill has "Ten Pesos" printed in a large font with an ornate design for a border.

Description: Paper bill worth fifty centavos used by the Japanese government during their occupation of the Philippines from 1942 to 1945. This bill has a picture on the front right of a person riding an animal through a forest of palm trees; there is an ornate design on the back side with double "50" printed on the left and right.

Description: Certificate presented to Charles R. Griggs by the United States Army appointing him to the temporary rank of corporal of "Company C, 58th Inf. Tng. Bn." The rest of the text explains that he shall adequately perform the duties of that rank and be obedient to order given to him that a corporal must follow.

[100 Mexican Pesos]

Description: Paper bill worth 100 Mexican pesos printed in 1942. This bill has a photograph of a man on the far right side and a large "100" printed in the left center portion of the front side; the title of the bill is "El Banco de Mexico." The back of the bill has a photograph of a large building in the center, "100" printed on the far left and right, and a note on the bottom saying "Cien Pesos."

Description: Certificate of ownership of a "War Ration Book One." The text on the front fold contains information about penalties one could receive for false information, and what to do if you find a lost book. To the left is the signature of the book holder, Lou Jane Wyatt, and on the reverse side of the top fold there is her personal information including: address, height, weight, hair color, etc.

Description: Memorial program for a group of aviators lost in the Gulf: George Everill Pierce, born February 2, 1907; John Gray Dodd, born April 3, 1918; Billy B. Boggess, born October 21, 1920; Floyd Cheathak, born May 20, 1918; Eugene A. Delisle, born September 26, 1909; Joseph L. Daichman, born February 13, 1913; and Sam A. Salli, born April 14, 1917. The memorial service was held October 25, 1942 at Eglin Field, Florida, officiated by Chaplain Waldo.

Description: Letter from E. H. Saulson, director of the USO Club, to Mrs. W. E. Blewett in Sweetwater, Texas. Saulson discusses a meeting to be held August 25, 1942; according to him, the purpose of the club is "to help occupy time and perhaps develop some way of building or maintaining their own morale as well as that of their husbands." Also included is the envelope that this letter was delivered in.
