[Deed for Land in Grapevine, Texas]

Description: Land deed from E. A. Hudgins to E. R. Boardman in 1871 agreeing to sell a piece of land located in Grapevine, Texas for the sum of $300. Below this agreement is a statement acknowledging the parties involved appeared freely and in person. The official certificates state that this deed has officially been filed and registered with the county in 1874.

[Release Deed Between Joseph Heinen and George L. Leigh, January 29, 1895]

Description: Legal document resolving the deed of trust between Joseph Heinen and George L. Leigh; the top half of the document displays the original deed of trust specifics made in 1890 between Leigh, Heinen, and Paul Villaret. The second half of the document acknowledges the fact that the debt had been paid off by Leigh and that the promissory note had been fulfilled.

[Warranty Deed from Charles F. de Ganahl and Florence J. Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh]

Description: Deed from Charles F. de Ganahl and Florence J. Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh acknowledging the sale of "the tract or parcel of land and improvements thereon situated in the county of Kerrl...described as follows..." Leigh paid $4,500 for the land "known as survey No. 38 in section No. 2," and the rest of the paragraph details the location, and borders of the given piece of land. The last sentence of the deed states: "The total amount of land intended by this conveyance to be conveyed, is five hundred and forty acres, more or less."

[Warranty Deed from Charles F. and Florence J. de Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh]

Description: Deed from Charles F. and Florence J. de Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh confirming the deed made the prior day on October 19, 1897; Leigh purchase the land known as "survey No. 38 in section No. 2" for the amount of ten dollars. The second half of the deed, prepared by the U. S. Consul from Tampico, Mexico, acknowledges that Florence J. de Ganahl "acknowledged such instrument to me to be her act and deed, and she declared that she had willingly signed..." Also included is the envelope in which this document was mailed in; it has text that describes the deed inside.

Alabama Land Deed with President Buchanan's Signature

Description: Photograph of a Alabama land deed for 220 acres belonging to Garrison Deens. it is signed by President James Buchanan on November 1, 1858. Mr. Deens sold this land to James O. Sellers in 1859 or 1860. Mr. Sellers was Ethel Bryant's grandfather. This photo was included in a research paper by Mike Shurley for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1968.
