Well-Drilling Apparatus.

Description: Patent for an Artesian or oil well drilling apparatus that has a detachable drill-bit in its tubing and has an "improved means whereby an expansion drill bit or blade of any preferred construction can be secured to or detached from the drill tubing without removing the latter from the well" (lines 12-15). The tubing does not accidentally detach, and the tubing can rotate in either direction.

Rein Holder.

Description: Patent for a new and improved rein holder. This design is "to provide an attachment for the purpose of preventing the horse's tail from engaging the reins . . . and adapted to be applied to the thills or adjacent parts of the running-gear of a vehicle" (lines 9-15). It is "formed of wire and comprising a frame having its opposite vertical members secured at their lower ends to the thills, the corners and opposite members being provided with pairs of integrally-formed eyes, and a cross-bar at the top connecting said opposite members" (lines 84-90).

Car Coupling.

Description: Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design relates "especially to that class known as 'gravity-pin supports;' and the object thereof is to provide improved means for supporting the pin so that it can be operated from the top of the car, or so that it will drop automatically when two cars come together" (lines 9-14). It consists, "with the coupling-pin and a supporting-arm pivotally connected to the draw-head and to the upper end of said pin, of a weight carried by said arm, and means . . . for supporting said weight and for tripping it" (lines 6-12).

Description: Patent for a new and improved plow.
