Description: Patent for a new and improved wire tightener. This design is especially "for use in the tightening of wires in the construction of fences and in taking up slack after such fences have been constructed, but which instrument is also capable of use in tying packages with wire, binding planks to posts, and in other instances where it is desirable to tighten wire and secure it when so tightened. The invention consists, broadly, in a wire-tightener having a frame provided with guides for the wire and with a threaded bearing, a screw turning in said bearing, and a hook on said screw to engage the wire" (lines 8-20).

Description: Patent for a new and improved planter. This design "is an improvement in the class of walking planters. It is particularly adapted for sowing cotton-seed, but will also plant corn and distribute fertilizing material. The principle feature of the invention is the construction of the seed-discharging device arranged and rotating in the bottom of the seed-hopper. Pistol and Carbine Holder.

Description: Patent for a new and improved holster for pistols and carbines. This design includes a button to be attached to the desired firearm, and the button is designed to fit into a groove attached to a strap. The strap is secured around a person or horse, and a tug at the handle of the firearm causes springs in the groove to release the button, thus freeing the firearm quickly and easily.

Description: Patent for a new and improved cotton planter. This design "consists in a cotton planter constructed with a funnel-shaped hopper, supported by a plate and frame carried by wheels, and an axle driven by a worm and worm-wheel, and held erect by a stationary tube having a flaring upper end, and carrying the furrow-opening plow. Cattle-Guard.

Description: Patent for a cattle-guard that improves on patents previously granted to the inventor (No. 516,307 and No. 501,785). The improvements include "the provision of a counter balance or lever with a weight slidingly thereon, which can be adjusted so as to better regulate the platform (lines 25-28) and perforated guards, which will not get as damaged by the wind as non-perforated guards. The patent also includes springs under the platform instead of springs under the sills.
