John Sherman Saunders

Description: John Sherman Saunders was a 2nd Lt. in company H, 61st Tennessess Mounted Infantry, Confederate army. He settled in Grapevine in 1868. Enlisted Oct. 3, 1862 in Clairborne Co., Tenn. He was captured Nov. 6, 1863. Was in military prison at Louisville, Ky. til Nov 18, 1863-Mar. 25, 1864 and at Fort Delaware, Del. prison from Mar. 24, 1864- June 12, 1865.

Jarret A. L. Foster and His Sons

Description: Jarret Foster and his five sons. Jarret Foster wed Malinda Eads sometime before Sept. 1853. Malinda was the mother of all of his children. He died Feb. 12, 1913. He was reportedly the last survivor of the Missouri Colony.

Archibald Franklin Crowley Family

Description: Archibald Franklin Crowley family on the porch of their home. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Archibald Franklin Leonard. This photo was probably taken on Mary Ann Leonard's 80th birthday. Alan Fitzhugh Crowley, Mary Ann Leonard, Robert and John Mugg and Martha Zinn are pictured also. Mary Ann Foster wed Archibald Franklin Leonard 2/28/1839. She was the daughter of Ambrose Foster and Susannah Medlin Foster. She was born 8/20/1822; died 5/19/1904; buried in Birdville Cemetery. They came to Grapevine in 1845 from Platte County, Mo.
