Description: Letter from Oscar M. Laurel, LULAC Executive Secretary, to John J. Herrera, LULAC National Organizer, dated January 22, 1952. Laurel conveys the approval of the LULAC Supreme Council for sociological and statistical data contained in the report by Lyle Saunders and Olen T. Leonard, entitled, "The Wetback in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas." Laurel writes that the council also condemns the false and prejudiced statements attributed to three people interviewed by the sociologists. This report is to be discussed at an upcoming LULAC Convention.

Description: Report by LULAC Committee chaired by Santos de la Paz, and committee members R. E. Austin, Luis Albarado, and O. T. Salinas, appointed by the LULAC Convention to study the report entitled "The Wetback in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas," by Lyle Saunders and Olen E. Leonard. The committee recommends disapproval and censure of the report, that a protest be sent to the University of Texas for permitting the printing the report, and the committe deplores what they see as approval of the report by the Texas Regional Convention of LULACs.

[Special orders, February 4, 1865]

Description: Special orders from Lt. Col. J. S. Platner to Capt. H. K. Redway specifying the requirements for monthly and tri-monthly reports. The orders state that the reports should include details on extra and daily duty men, as well as men on detached service. It notes that in the report's remark column the number of men in Charleston, the men who are sick, and those who are on any other kind of duty.

[Morning Reports for Company F, 1864-1865]

Description: Morning reports of Company F for the years 1864 and 1865. The monthly reports begin in September 1864 and end in July 1865. These reports detail the company's station; the number of soldiers on active duty, special duty, daily duty, or extra duty; the soldier's rank within the company; the number of men who were sick, arrested,confined, or on detached leave; as well as those who were with and without leave. The reports also note the number of serviceable and unserviceable horses. Included along with the monthly reports was a remarks page where the daily happenings of the company were recorded. These remarks listed men who were on furlough, in the hospital, or those who were missing from duty. Hamilton K. Redway and his company were stationed at Camp Piatt and Kelly's Creek during the months the reports were recorded in this book. Redway's signature appears several times in the morning reports.
