Official United States Savings Stamp Album

Description: Official stamp album used for buying savings bonds, the cover has an illustration of a patriot holding a musket. This album is folded like a booklet with squares with prices in them, a large number of these boxes are covered by stamps that have been bought. There is an insert inside the album with more squares and stamps on them; each square has its own monetary value inside.

Description: Envelope addressed to Mrs. Wm. M. Brenner from C. D. Dancer. Canceling Stamp.

Description: Patent for a new and improved stamp canceler. This design utilizes a washer, flanges, and vertical slots "for the purpose of adjusting the roughened face of the head . . . so that the correct operation of the face is insured" (65-68). This represents an improvement over previous stamp cancelers.

Printing Attachment for Letter-Boxes.

Description: Patent for a printing attachment for letter-boxes where people can postmark the mail they want to be sent. It fist on any street letter-box. The attachment is a case with stamps for every day of the month and the location of the town, city, or post-office the letter is being collected to, and there is a pocket below where one slips the package or envelope to mark it. An inking-pad is also in the pocket for the stamps, which can be used by pulling a lever.

Cabinet for Holding Postage Stamps, &c.

Description: Patent for a new and improved cabinet. This design "consists in a commercial postage-stamp holding, preserving, and denomination-indicating book, the same having its blank leaves formed of paper so prepared that postage-stamps will not adhere to them, and some of said leaves being provided at intervals with exposed tabs which have numerical indices marked upon them and serve for indicating the denomination of the stamps placed between the leaves at different parts of the book. It also consists in . . . a rigid outer supporting-cabinet provided with means for confining the book" (lines 12-27).

Description: Patent for a stamp sticking or sealing machine that is meant "to provide a device with a moistening pad capable of applying moisture to the mucilage of the stamps, and with a guide or way through which the stamps may be passed, and by which they are guided to and past the moistening pad; and the invention consists in certain novel features of construction whereby the device is made capable of easier manipulation, whereby it may be held in one hand so as to cause the stamps to make contact with the pad, thus leaving the other hand of the operator free to draw the stamps over the pad and to affix them" (lines 8-21).

Description: Patent for a new and improved moistener for stamps and envelopes.
