Lines included marches up the Mississippi River to St. Louis; travels between numerous forts, camps, and barracks in Texas; similar trails among the plains and Rocky Mountain military posts; a line from New York to Havana to Panama then to San Francisco; and marches in New Mexico and Arizona, including a march from Fort Yuma to Tuscon and Fort Buchanan along the Mexico-United States border.
