Description: Deed from Charles F. de Ganahl and Florence J. Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh acknowledging the sale of "the tract or parcel of land and improvements thereon situated in the county of Kerrl...described as follows..." Leigh paid $4,500 for the land "known as survey No. 38 in section No. 2," and the rest of the paragraph details the location, and borders of the given piece of land. The last sentence of the deed states: "The total amount of land intended by this conveyance to be conveyed, is five hundred and forty acres, more or less."

[Warranty Deed from Charles F. and Florence J. de Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh]

Description: Deed from Charles F. and Florence J. de Ganahl to Edward B. Leigh confirming the deed made the prior day on October 19, 1897; Leigh purchase the land known as "survey No. 38 in section No. 2" for the amount of ten dollars. The second half of the deed, prepared by the U. S. Consul from Tampico, Mexico, acknowledges that Florence J. de Ganahl "acknowledged such instrument to me to be her act and deed, and she declared that she had willingly signed..." Also included is the envelope in which this document was mailed in; it has text that describes the deed inside.

[Quit Claim Deed from Charlisa G. Walker to Charles F. de Ganahl]

Description: Deed from Charlisa G. Walker to Charles F. de Ganahl acknowledging the exchange of land between the two for five dollars paid by de Ganahl: "[Charles F. de Ganahl] will convey to this grantor by special warranty deed the following described tracts of land." On the second page of the document Walker is relinquishing her rights to certain plots of land and giving them to Charles.

[Two Documents Relating to Land Tracts and Sales]

Description: Two documents related to separate tracts of land, one is a drawing of a piece of land belonging to George Bigford and the other is a promissory note from George L. Leigh to Joseph Heimen. On the back of the map there is a note describing the location and borders of the land belonging to Bigford. The promissory note states that George promises "to pay to the order of Joseph Heimen, Six Hundred Dollars at Comfort, Texas with 9% interest...from date until paid." This note "is given for the part purchase money for 320 acres of land situated in Kerr County."

[Declaration of Trust Created by George L. Leigh]

Description: Declaration of trust created by George L. Leigh acknowledging that George has placed in trust all the property on the land owned, technically, by Edward B. Leigh though George "has been in the possession of it." According to the document Edward furnished the money for which the land was originally acquired; this document was meant to "furnish ample evidence to said Edward B. Leigh of his rights in the premises, to fully and effectually establish his ownership to all of said property."

[Tax Documents from 1898, 1899, and 1900]

Description: Four tax documents from Kerr County, two of which are dated January 31, 1899 and the other two are dated January 31, 1900. Two of the documents were sent to George L. Leigh and two were sent to Edward B. Leigh; each document states the amount of taxes and the value for property that was assessed. The fifth document was sent to George L. Leigh and says the taxes taken amounted to $14.25.

[Citation Issued to W. H. and C. F. Bonnell Pertaining to cause no. 448, 1896]

Description: Document that relates to the case of Edward Prince vs. Mrs. C. F. Bonnell et al, accused of deed fraud, originally decided May 8, 1895. This document is a citation summoning W. H. Bonnell and Mrs. C. F. Bonnell "to be and appear before the Honorable District Court of Kerr County." Prince claims that the deeds created by W. H. Bonnell to Mrs C. F. Bonnell are "without valuable consideration in law and are fraudulent" and the lands mentioned in the deeds should be "sold and foreclosed."

[W. H. and C. F. Bonnell's Original Answer from cause no. 448, 1896]

Description: Document pertaining to the case of Edward Prince vs. W. H. Bonnell and C. F. Bonnell, accused of fraudulent land deeds, filed November 7, 1896. This document relays the original arguments made by the attorney for W. H. and C. F. Bonnell, Leo Tarleton; he says that the defendants "deny all and singular the allegations in said original petition."

[Land Grant Certificate Presented to George L. Leigh, October 25, 1890]

Description: Land grant certificate presented to George L. Leigh and signed by the governor of Texas, L. S. Ross. This grant to George, his heirs or assigns "forever Three Hundred and Twenty (320) acres of land." The rest of the certificate references the specified land and details the perimeter and borders of it in terms of longitude and latitude degrees as well as compass directions.

[Warranty Deed from Jimmie W. de Ganahl to Charles F. de Ganahl, October 3, 1894]

Description: Warranty deed from Jimmie W. de Ganahl to Charles F. de Ganahl acknowledging the sale of "that tract or parcel of land...known as Survey No. 38" to Charles in exchange for "ten dollars and other considerations." The deed specifies that Charles has rights to the land, however, there is already an agreement to allow the railroad the right of way on parts of the land; also being given to Charles is all of Jimmie's farm and truck equipment as well as his household and kitchen furniture.

Washing-Machine.

Description: Patent for an improved washing machine "in which is employed a rotary agitator or dasher with blades, and it has for its objects among others to provide an improved construction whereby better results are attained, the construction simplified and made cheaper, less liable to become inoperative or injured and easier to operate" (lines 16-22). It has a cover with a hinged lid.

Trace Carrier.

Description: Patent for a new and improved trace-carrier. This design consists in "the combination of a cylindrical body of elongated form and obliquely arranged and having slots in the upper part thereof to form bars, a central top slot between said bars, and a lower bar having a recess therein, an obliquely-inclined spring-latch extending across one of the open ends of said body, the back-band having a strap to pass around said body, and a girth-strap connected to said lower recessed bar" (lines 13-22).

[Deed of Trust from George L. Leigh to Paul Villaret and Joseph Heinen, February 4, 1891]

Description: Deed placing "survey number 1430 situated in Kerr County...patent number 181" in trust as collateral against a promissory note made to Joseph Heinen for the original purchase of the land by George L. Leigh. As part of the transaction it includes a sale of the land to Paul Villaret for ten dollars making him the executor of the trust.
