Patent 87, Volume 40-A

Description: This document was issued to the Houston & Texas Central Railroad Company as the final instrument in the land grant process, assigning ownership to the railroad company for 640 acres in Tom Green County, section 21, block 20, as described in the patent. O. Henry wrote a fictional account of illegal proceedings concerning a land certificate, Bexar Scrip 2692, in the short story "Bexar Scrip 2692.” This is the patent that ultimately gave land ownership to the railroad via that certificate.

Description: Chattel mortgage agreement between W. H. and Allie H. Bonnell and Charles Schreiner Bank in the total amount of $3,500 to be due on the first of December 1925. In this agreement Bonnell is putting up his flock of goats and sheep, as well as his stock of cattle, as collateral to secure the payment on this note; if the debt is not paid Schreiner has the authority to sell the property. Attached is a certificate acknowledging that the copy of this document has been filed; also there is a statement printed at the bottom stating that this agreement is "given in renewal of balance owing by us to said Chas. Schreiner Bank on a certain note of date the 17th July, 1922."

There is a printed note at the bottom of the page stating that this note "is given in reneal of balance owing by me to said Chas. Schreiner Bank on a certain note of date Dec. 16, 1918." Description: Release deed of trust from Arthur Real to W. H. Bonnell and his wife, Allie H. Bonnell, acknowledging the fulfillment of a deed of trust created by the couple in August 1916. [Agreement Between the Bonnells, Dickeys, and Liljagrens]

Description: Agreement made between members of the Bonnell, Dickey, and Liljegren families regarding the rights and interests on the land owned by the deceased Charlotte Francis Bonnell in Kerr County. This agreement, made on June 17, 1921, divides the land into parts to be owned by each of the members of the family, after W. H. Bonnell "brought a suit in the District Court of Kerr County, Texas" due to his dissatisfaction with Charlotte's will.

Description: Land sale agreement made for the Bonnells, Dickeys, and Liljegrens for the sum of $10,752.80 to L. Roy Nowlin, "to be paid by L. Roy Nowlin with $3,584.26 cash, and "the following notes "one payable to Allie Bonnel, One note for $500.00 payable to Ethel B. Dickey and one note for $500.00 payable to Helen Bonnell Liljegren." The rest of the document contains information about the land that has been sold to Nowlin.

Description: Transfer of vendor's lien note from W. H. Bonnell to Miss May F. A. Huntoon; Bonnell sold the note to Huntoon for the sum of $2,000 to be paid "on or before 19th day of September, 1931."
