Description: Photograph of the J.H.P. Davis house. This is the exterior north facade of the two story white wooden house with dark painted shutters, gate post, urns, and fence baseboard. A brick fireplace is to the left of the porch. There is a stained glass window over the portico. Standing on the porch is J.H.P. Davis and two women. The house is enclosed by a white picket fence with open gate. Reference used for description: "Internship Report Davis Complex Research/Planning" written by Michael Moore. The photograph is mounted on a cardboard substrate. Written on back of photo in black: "Judge Davis Home in 1920 The Judge - Mrs. Davis, Mamie Davis". Also written on back with reference to the identification of Mrs. Davis and Mamie Davis in pencil was "Error". Image dimensions are: 19.5 cm x 11.8 cm.

Oscar's wife Emma Albert Fisseler is seated on the wagon (far right, wearing the light colored dress). And their daughter Caroline “Lena” Fisseler is standing on the wagon next to the man and dog. On the left is the three-story Cronston building. The Francis Hardware Store was on the lower floor. The Woodbine building was next to the Cronston and adjoining was Clay Wither's store. Emory C . Smith's law office and R. A. Cobb's confectionery in the next two buildings followed by the McNeil dry goods store. The vacant lot was where the Lacy Hotel had burned down two years before. A saloon stands next and it is connected to a large building in which a meat market was operated.

J. H. Appelt Building

Description: Photograph of the J. H. Appelt Building in 1889. There are people standing around the building and a man in a cart pulled by two mules. This is a brick two-story building with lots of windows. According to accompanying information, this saloon was located at Third and LaGrange Streets in Hallettsville and was built in 1888-89, and there was a fire in 1890 which resulted in the left side of the building being torn down and rebuilt.
