Blacksmith Shop in Jones County

Description: Copy negative of Carl Harton's blacksmithing and woodworking shop in Danevang, Texas. The one-story building features a false storefront with a sign reading "Blacksmith and Woodwork." Two carriages pulled by horses are driving across the road in front of the shop. Several men are standing in front of the open doors of the shop. On the left side of the shop, wagon wheels and other debris are scattered against the building.

[Remodeling Crew Working on Reconstruction of Danevang Lutheran Church Chapel]

Description: Six black and white photographs arranged on a sheet of black construction paper; four photographs are on the front. The top left corner photograph is of a painter in a white t-shirt; there are various cans of paint visible behind him. The top right photograph is of Ed Riha, a carpenter and wood finisher, working with a power saw. The bottom right photograph is of the alcove that is pentagonal in shape, with a scaffold in front. This is where the new altar will be located; a cross has already been affixed to the center. It is accompanied by a label that says, "the dark paneling across the front of the church was financed by the Memorial Fund." The photograph on the bottom left is of David Sciba, the contractor, who is working with some planks of wood near a sawhorse that is partially visible to his left. The backside of the sheet has the remaining two photographs. The one on the left is of a man dressed in overalls, using a hammer on the door frame of the "cryroom," according to the accompanying label. The photo on the right is of a multi-tiered scaffold set against a wall of the chapel at the top of which a cross is affixed. According to the accompanying label, this scaffold is being used to reconstruct the balcony.
