[1973 vacation bible school class]

Description: Photograph of the 49th Annual Vacation Bible School Class of July 23 to 27, 1973, held by the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Beaumont, Texas. The class provided religious instruction through bible stories and songs as well as youth entertainment through games, movies and handicraft activities. The machine was an early example of technology in the classroom. It's function was to give students practice in basic multiplication facts. Since this was before hand held calculators were sold it was an interesting alternative drill and practice tool.

Mr. Bridge was the owner of KMHT radio station and was the first person to support Mrs. Kariel when she publicly stated the need for a public library.
