Andrew Jensen Military Promotion

Description: Hand-written and printed document from the United States Army given to Andrew Jensen after a military promotion. At the very top of the document, there is a black and white illustration of an eagle amongst various symbolic elements that make up the particular emblem. It hovers over bold text and is enclosed in a gray cloud-like gray area. The document states that Andrew made the transition to corporal at Camp Travis in Texas. Crease lines can be seen both length-wise and width-wise.

[Baptismal Certificate]

Description: Certificate from Sigrid Larsen Wind's baptism at Danevang Church written in Danish. There is an illustration at the top of the document of a female angel holding a basin. She is inside a circular motif with a line of bold text going around the top. Additionally, two paper scrolls unroll from leafy branches that decorate the top third of the document. Manifest from Ocean Liner in Danish

Description: Manifest document from an ocean liner written in Danish. There is an illustration on the top left corner of a flag. Centered on this flag is a letter "S" which has been placed inside an equilateral triangle. The manifest then goes on to list some information. At the bottom, the date is included in the bottom left corner. Opposite it are two lines of text which read, "M. S. ,, Rio Bravo ,," and "Kapt. F. Christiansen"; presumably, the name of the ship and captain.

[Written Account of the Origins of the Danevang Farmers Cooperative Society]

Description: Four page account of the beginning of the Danevange Farmers Cooperative Society written by W. E. Paulson, a marketing specialist in the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station at Texas A. & M. University. Early hardships in Danevange frame the communal spirit of the early Texas Danes, who begin cooperative enterprises after the devastating "Galveston storm" in 1900. Mr. Paulson ends with some of the financial benefits of the Coop society on Danevange.

Description: Quarterly occupation tax receipt given to P. B. Bundick of Matagorda County in Texas for his occupation of Ferryman. Mr. Bundick appears have paid a total of $5.46 on this particular quarter. The transaction was confirmed by the comptroller of public accounts, whose signature can be seen on the bottom right corner.
